Largest U.S. Hospital outside the United States will be built in Germany

The construction contract for the largest U.S. hospital outside the United States has been signed. The Rhine Ordnance Barracks Medical Center Replacement (ROB MCR) project has thus cleared a key hurdle: The Federal Construction Administration of Germany, which is implementing the project for the U.S. Armed Forces, has awarded a construction contract worth 859 million euros to the Züblin and Gilbane Joint Venture in accordance with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Europe District (EUD), and the U.S. Defense Health Agency (DHA).

A modern hospital with an area of over 90,000 square meters and 9 operating rooms and 120 examination rooms is now being built in Weilerbach in the western Palatinate region in the immediate vicinity of Ramstein Air Base. Completion is scheduled for the end of 2027.

Leonhardt, Andrä und Partner is responsible for the structural design as part of the team of the general planner HDR. The planning was consistently carried out using the BIM method.
