Launching of the Heidingsfeld Viaduct completed

On 10/08/2016 the incrementally launching process of the Heidingsfeld Viaduct in the course of the six-laning extension of Autobahn BAB A3 close to the city of Wuerzburg was completed. The 635 m long steel composite bridge with spans of 53 – 80 – 92 – 100 – 108 – 120 – 82 m was launched in six, up to 125 m long segments with a 40 m launching nose without any auxiliary piers. Following the launching process, the roadway slab is being built by using precast panels and the closed upper chord of the steel box as formwork for the cast-in-place concrete slab. The opening of the bridge for traffic is scheduled for the mid-2017. Further information about the entire project are available at www.a3-wuerzburg.de.
