Ground-breaking ceremony for the new bridge over the Stadtgraben in Lübeck
On 1 November 2023, the ground-breaking ceremony for the new bridge voer the Stadtgraben took place in Lübeck in the presence of Mayor Jan Lindenau and Building Senator Joanna Hagen.
The Hanseatic City of Lübeck has contracted Leonhardt, Andrä und Partner together with gmp Generalplanungsgesellschaft mbH for the design of a new pedestrian and cycle bridge over the city moat close to the old town. The bridge will be an extension of Werner-Kock-Straße in the west and will lead into Willy-Brandt-Allee on the east side. Construction started on Wednesday. In a year's time, cyclists and pedestrians should be able to get directly from the IHK on Fackenburger Allee to the MuK and thus into the city center.
Various alternatives for the design of the bridge were developed in the preliminary design phase. The City of Lübeck selected the TRIA variant as the preferred solution. The basic structure of the superstructure with the two triangular elevations is a continuous girder over three spans. The spans of the end spans are 13.25 m and 14.10 m respectively, the span of the main span is 35.85 m. The total length of the structure from abutment to abutment is 65.90 m.
In addition to the design , Leonhardt, Andrä und Partner is also responsible for local construction supervision and site management. With a construction period of approximately one year, the bridge is scheduled for completion in fall 2024.
