Varvsbron awarded with the Swedish Steel Construction Prize 2023
The Varvsbron in Helsingborg was awarded another prize: the Swedish Steel Construction Prize 2023 (SVENSKA STÅLBYGGNADSPRISET 2023).
Jury Comment:
In an almost acrobatic floating and tilting movement between different ground levels, the Varvsbron bridge spans the E4, with two curved sections creating an S-shaped movement over the harbour basin and landing in line with a new square by a canal. The interaction between space and structure, between mass, pressure and tension, contributes to an efficient use of materials, a perceived resilience and a beautiful place to be and move around. The project is characterised by a desirable good collaboration between the City of Helsingborg as a committed client, the landscape architect, the bridge engineer, other technical consultants and a knowledgeable contractor. Everyone's knowledge has been seamlessly woven into the project and the overall experience has been allowed to prevail.
Since the inauguration of Varvsbron 2021, the bridge has already received several important awards.
LAP was subcontracted by Centerlöf and Holmberg, Malmö, for the global analysis and design of the steel work.
Seit der Einweihung der Varvsbron 2021 hat die Brücke bereits mehrere wichtige Auszeichnungen erhalten.
